I shoot people...in the face...mostly with film cameras. occasionally I will take photos on my iPhone too.
just got my photos back from my tuesday shoot with a model…and WOW. this photo was taken for shits n giggles, and is separate from the project…but i want to post it because…LOOK AT IT! haha. i will post the series later today or tomorrow after i arrange them. it’s a photo narrative.
camera: Byclops
film: expired ISO 200 35mm
flash: blue + red + yellow [triple exposure]
these are the first 8 shots off my first roll from the Byclops. i think its the camera taking its first few baby steps until finally forming its first [half] photo. all these shots are “accidents”…but theres a sort of abstract charm to these photos. thats why i’ve decided to upload them to here.
got the prints back from my camera that i just built. the film was loose on the spool, so i was very afraid that the photos wouldn’t come out. i’m curious what that overexposed area on the right is though…i feel like its either the pressure i put on the back of the camera [since the film was loose], or some of the wiring i added for the flash.
…regardless, for a first roll of film, these photos came out really nice and i can see the potential in it.
camera: Byclops [recesky DIY TLR, with some modifications]
flash: vivitar 252 + color gels
film: off-brand 200 ISO color 35mm
FINALLY FINISHED MY CAMERA!!! i am naming it “The Byclops”…after the greek mythological figure born with the hideous deformity of having two eyes. this is a work of art, if i do say so myself. the kit came with some crappy parts, so i cut and sanded down some material i found lying around the house…like a glass mirror from a make-up kit, a transparent memory card case, and the old thrift store cameras from previous posts. …also notice in the upper-right corner: COLOR GELS…meaning i can tint the color of the flash. i can’t wait to use this camera.
the best part about the camera itself though…is that its 35mm, meaning i get more shots than if i were using 120mm film…and it does double exposures. which is fun to play around with. [see my cinco de mayo post]
